WELCOME TO OUR 47TH SEASON OF CAMPING – Remember to stop at the Office each Friday for a Program of our Sports and Crafts and Games, Entertainment & Special Events.

Bowdish Lake RulesCAMPFIRES: Campfires are allowed only if they are contained within a ring of stones, flames are never more than 12 inches high, they are never left unattended and are fully out at midnight. This fire regulation must be strictly adhered to in order to protect our environment.

FISHERMEN: Our Season-Long Fishing Contest begins May 25. Remember to bring your catch to the office to be weighed, photographed and entered. Trophy and Cash Prize ($10.00/pound) awarded on Labor Day 2018. Fish must be caught in Bowdish Lake.

10 AM to 5 PM — BEACH OPEN (weather permitting)  Swim only when & where Lifeguard is on Duty.  There are State Laws for your safety.  If you have a boat, launch it at the launch area west of Beach 2.  There is no parking at the boat launch area.  Vehicles and boat trailers must be returned to your site or parked in our field while you are out on the water. Never park in an empty site.


10 AM — THE BOWDISH LAKE BOOK GROUP

MEETING OF THE BOOK CLUB AT CAMPSITE YELLOW 43

Gather once a month with other book lovers! At this first session meet other participants and help plan this summer’s reading list. We will also be discussing the book we read over the winter, Someone Knows My Name, by Lawrence Hill. (Haven’t read the book? You could watch the miniseries on Netflix…)

Crafts for All Ages at reasonable prices.

Wooden items to paint and decorate, beads, gimp,  decorate a hair clip or a foam visor. Lots of projects for all ages.

Children under age 7 must be with an adult.  Thank you.


3 PM — ZOMBIE NERF BATTLE – Safari Field

Join an epic Nerf battle as humans attempt to defeat the zombie invasion!

Nerf guns and protective eyewear provided, or feel free to bring your own unmodified Nerf gun. Ages 7 and up.


5 PM — CHILDRENS’ HAY WAGON RIDES

Pick-up and drop-off at Safari Field. Parents, do not allow your child to ride unless you are certain he/she will remain seated. Parents are invited to ride.

 


6 PM — ANIMAL WORLD EXPERIENCE –

SPECIAL EVENT at the SAFARI REC HALL

Memorial Weekend 2019 Matt with snapping turtle— Come and see Matt’s amazing collection of rare animals.

He will teach you their habits and oddities and let you pet them, gently.

Come walk on the wild side.

We all have a lot to learn from our wildest friends! Don’t miss it!

Fun, entertaining and educational for all ages!

Celebrate the animal world with an animal themed Bingo! ..

Ever wanted to try quilt-making?

Join Master Seamstress Carol Stehely, who over the course of the summer will guide you through the steps of making your own Cobblestone Court Quilt.

This pattern allows for 15 different variations on the same pattern! Stop by the office for a supply list.

The quilting group will meet the last Sunday of each month.

Enjoy making a useful project and earn a great sense of accomplishment.  All Welcome.

COLUMBUS WEEKEND IS HALLOWEEN AT BOWDISH LAKE.   Remember to bring your costumes!

Because we have an occupancy limit on our Rec Hall and because those ‘just watching’ take up space needed for games, all persons who attend our costume party, both adults and children, must be in costume.  Thank you!

Prizes will be awarded for both Adult and Children’s costumes!

Pony Rides September 2 bunnies to pet while you wait for a ridePet the bunnies while waiting for your pony ride.

 

Pony rides are $3 each.

Tickets can be purchased at the Office.

 

The ponies and bunnies will only be visiting for one hour, so don’t be late! Don’t forget your camera.

Pony Rides September 2 PARKING

There is No Parking in empty sites or along roadsides, at any time, for any reason. We must keep the roadways clear for emergency vehicles, therefore there can be no exceptions. Also, because someone may get to their assigned site only to find it blocked by parked vehicles, we cannot allow this rule to be ignored.

SPORTS EQUIPMENT: Bowdish Lake has lots of opportunity for your favorite sport or just good exercise, on loan at the office. Ask to borrow bats & balls, basketballs, volleyballs, kick balls, horseshoes, stilts, hoops, Frisbees, etc. Ask for maps of the miles of hiking trails in the State Forest that surrounds us. A good place to start is a walk around Wilbur Pond. (Or browse our lending library!)

PLEASE DO NOT BRING FIREWORKS INTO OUR CAMP.  They are dangerous and they frighten small children and dogs.  Instead, ask at the office for schedules of fireworks in the surrounding towns.  Thank you.

3:30 PM  FUN WITH ROCKETS — Safari Field, Ages 7 to 15.  If you can, bring a 1 or 2 liter bottle.

4 PM  PIE EATING CONTEST — Safari Rec Hall – 20 contestants will be selected by age and size.

2 PM  PAUL BROMLEY CHAINSAW LOG CARVER will be at work in Safari Field all afternoon,  Come and watch his amazing work!

2:30 PM  ICE CREAM SOCIAL  —  Hot Fudge Sundaes – $1.50 – Safari Rec Hall – Purchase tickets ahead at the office.  (Only 100 will be sold)

4 PM  TOWN OF GLOCESTER PARADE — 5 miles east on Rte 44

Fourth of July Weekend 2015 Lighted Boat ParadeDusk  –  LIGHTED BOAT PARADE ON OUR LAKE with Fireworks.  Sponsored by the Lake Association.  All boat owners invited to enter.

7 PM – 10 PM BEACH REC HALL OPEN

8 PM  FREE PRIZE BINGO — Safari Rec Hall – All Ages.

8 PM  CAMPERS’ FIRE AT THE RED PAVILION

11 PM  All Quiet on Sites

12 MIDNIGHT  –  All campfires fully extinguished.

FISHERMEN  – Bring your catch to the office to be weighed and photographed and entered in our Season-long Fishing Contest.  Trophy awarded Labor Day Weekend.

Fourth of July Weekend 2015 Haywagon Rides5 PM  CHILDRENS HAY WAGON RIDES — Pick-up and drop-off at Safari Field.  Parents:  Do not allow your child to ride unless you are certain he/she will remain seated.  Parents are invited to ride.

7 PM – 10 PM  BEACH REC HALL OPEN
